The 98 Navy Girls dismantled their competition in both the semifinals and finals to capture the 2013-2014 NCYSA Kepner President’s Cup Championship. In the semifinals on Saturday, the 98s started fast and furious building a quick 3-0 lead vs CSA Copa in the early going and never looked back. After 80 minutes Navy won the game 6-0 and were on to the Finals where they would take on WCWAA who defeated CASL Premier in their semifinal 6-1 also to reach the championship game.
Once again the 98s started quickly scoring just 28 seconds into the game to take a 1-0 lead. Navy would score again in the 7th minute to go up 2-0 before WCWAA got on the board to get back into the game at 2-1. The 98s would tally one more goal in the 1st half to take a commanding 3-1 lead at the break. Like the start of the game, the 98s came out sharp again after the break and registered another early goal to push the lead to 4-1 before scoring yet again to win the championship with a 5-1 result.
This is the 2nd year in a row the TFC 98 age group has been crowned Kepner President Cup Champions as the 98 White team won the title in the 2012 season. The 98 Navy Team will now travel to Alabama in June for Regionals and compete against other President Cup Champions from all the states in Region 3. Congrats to the girls and their families on a job well done and to coach Justin Bryant for the overall team success.
