Classic SoccerIn North
Carolina, the highest level of
league play is called Classic. It is the mission of the NCYSA
classic program to provide an environment to foster play at the
highest level, age appropriate development of players who
demonstrate talent and commitment with the desire to excel, and
an appropriate level of team competition as well as values of
good sportsmanship to all who participate. Players wishing to
play at the most competitive level possible (excluding State
Select), for an extended period of time (usually 8-10 months)
play Classic soccer.
Classic soccer in North Carolina is broken up into 3 varying
levels: Premier, 1st Division, and 2nd Division. Teams are
promoted and relegated into the varying levels. Within every age
group, teams will play 1 game/day, which takes place on
Saturdays, with some occasional Sundays. The Premier league is a
state-wide league, which means you could possibly travel up to
250 miles one way to play a game. 1st Division and 2nd Division
is broken up into regions, where travel is limited to closer
distances.
Within the Triangle Futbol Club, Classic Soccer is a full year
commitment for players and parents. Teams typically travel
between 4-8 tournaments a year, depending on age and level of
play. Teams will train three times a week in the Triangle Area.
2008-09 Classic Program FAQ
(April 29, 2008)
Challenge Soccer
TFC currently provides challenge level opportunity for girls and boys in the U-10 through U-14 age groups. Challenge soccer is designed to be a mid-level youth soccer filling the competitive gap between recreational soccer and Classic soccer.
TFC believes and is committed to the development of challenge players so, if they wish, they can move on to the classic level. This involves an emphasis on technical skills and age appropriate tactical training for all players. Coaches should have prior experience and are encouraged to attain at least a “D” license. In addition, all challenge coaches are required to attend continuing education through club sponsored training. The coaches are continually trained and evaluated by the TFC Directors of Coaching.
Players are expected to attend two training sessions per week
and one game per week. Games are typically played on Sunday
afternoons.
TFC teams have played in the Mid State Soccer League (MSSL), US Club events, and the NCYSA Academy.
TFC Challenge teams are formed on a regional basis. The TFC Director of Youth Development oversees the Challenge program and works in collaboration with Regional Coordinators who are focal points for Challenge teams in each Region.
2008-09 Challenge Program FAQ
(April 29, 2008)
Technical development, tactical understanding, and a positive
fun environment is the cornerstone of TFC challenge soccer. We
are fully committed to providing the most comprehensive training
for challenge players in the area. As such, we hold a challenge
level camp each summer, weekly skills training in the summer and
winter, and provide coaches that are continually trained and
evaluated by TFC directors of coaching.
Super
Y League
As pictured on the right hand side of
this page, the Super Y Program at Triangle Futbol Club tells the
history and the direction of the program. Though the Triangle
Futbol Club has a proud tradition and history with Classic and
Challenge programs, TFC's Super Y League program is the only
program in the Triangle area open to all members of all clubs,
and even qualified players without a club affiliation. The Super
Y League is its own entity with its own championship series and
its own ODP program, which allows for players registered to any
club to be a part of the Triangle FC SYL program while remaining
a member of their NCYSA teams. Because our program is designed
to serve players from all over the state, and because the SYL is
a nation-wide league, the state of North Carolina is included in
the logo.
2008 Super Y information
The three stars represent the three Triangle FC teams who
have competed for National Championships over the past two
seasons. Through league play, teams compete to finish first in
their division in order to qualify for the North American Finals
held at the conclusion of each season. In the 2004 season, the
'88 boys and the '87 girls earned spots in the North American
Finals which were held in Orlando, Florida, becoming the first
teams from Triangle Futbol Club to ever compete for a National
Championship. In 2005, the '85 boys went unbeaten in league play
to earn a trip to New Jersey to compete for the title. Should
teams from the 2006 season advance to the Finals, a star will be
added to the 2007 logo to honor their accomplishment and to
build to the legacy of the Triangle FC Super Y League program.
